by Terry Henry

Terry Henry experimented with every possible black glass she could find in the soft glass category, from common to rare, out-of-production glass, then photographed and catalogued the results. She obtained samples through the glass community, then experimented with each sample in the same way. Terry pulled stringers and applied them to a white base, then spot-heated them and applied cubic zirconias to test the extent of the workability. The photos show the extent of webbing, striking, spreading, and reduction, and also the vast color differences in simple “black” glass. This exhaustive article leaves no black glass stone unturned, and is a valuable resource for every lampworker.
