Dana George demonstrates adding swirled flanges (fins) to a bead. To begin, the base bead is decorated with coordinating colors of stringer. Dots are then layered on top of silvered ivory dots all the way around the bead. To finish, the flange glass is added to the base of the bead and flattened to the correct shape.
