Artist's Bio
Sara Shade is an exciting new artist who is ìliving the dreamî of creating extraordinary designs from borosilicate glass. Like so many of us, Sara started down a path of studies that was not meant to be realized. While buried in International Business studies, the pull of her natural artistic talents became so strong that she left her business major behind for a Bachelor of Studio Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach. She explored numerous mediums from sketching to metal working until ultimately a trail led her to lampworking glass. The exploration was over! She had found her passion.
As a full time apprentice for more than 4 years, Sara was able to study techniques of multiple talented artists. This provided the core education of the medium and itís vocabulary.
Today sheís a successful, independent glass artist, creating unique jewelry pieces. Her designs are striking in their simplicity and use of vivid coloring. Saraís commitment to this medium is fueled by a constant quest for training. Over the past 12 months she's spent extended periods of time studying in Murano, Italy with masters Lucio Bubacco and Cesare Toffolo. |
