Artist's Bio
My name is Lynn McGovern and I have been involved with glass for over 20 years. I worked in stained glass starting in the '80's, working on mostly architectural pieces for churches and businesses. My introduction to lampworking was in 2001. The lure of the glass with the added excitement of working in fire seduced me immediately. Since then I have attended many classes and am grateful for the number of very talented and generous teachers there are out there! When I try to explain the reason that I have worked with glass for so long I can only say that playing with glass is playing with light. Glass can transmit, change, reflect or refract light. It is simply my favorite box of crayons. The inspiration for my work has always been the natural wonder of the woods and lakes in Northern Michigan. I need only look out my window. I am including pictures of my recent work and one of myself at a Loren Stump workshop. Let me know if you require this information sent in a different format. A friend recently showed me a copy of your magazine and I signed up for a subscription. You are publishing a beautiful educational magazine! The pictures were taken by me except the picture of the pens--that is by John Williams. |
