I have been involved with glass since I took my first stained glass class at age 21. I first made panels and lamps for my friends and family and then went on to create custom private installations. In 1998 I saw a lampworked bead and liked the idea that instead of tolling for days or even weeks to create something specatular I could have it the same day after one sitting. SO I got myself a lampwork setup and embarked on the journey. I have studied under Kate Fowle Melaney, Annette Rose Shapiro and Urban Glass, Pam Dugger and most recently Heather Trimlett. At present I have been bitten with the nature bug and am trying to replicate flowers by experimenting, experimenting and more experimenting. From speaking with several lampwork artists, I create my flowers piece by piece rather than working off one main bead so there have been no tutorials to follow other than my own instinct. This past summer I took a two week intensive class with Heather Trimlett at Penland .She empowered our class with the key to unlock our creativity which comes from within each of us. Since then I have been experimenting and wondering how to but also taking it to the next level and figuring out how I can do it myself.
