When I first set out to learn how to blow glass, people told me ìThis is not a womenís field!î and 11 years later, well I've got my foot in the door!

Because of the resistance I was faced with before I started, Iíve always had an open attitude about glass, and have tried to help people where I could. Now, I spend a lot of time doing off torch activities that impact our industry such as running www.theGLDG.com (The Glass Lampworkers Discussion Group) testing new products, writing reviews, and producing free instructional videos for people. Soon we (Eugene Rain) will be starting a Knowledge Scholarship program where we will choose one artist to take classes from us over a yearís time, for free. I would really love to see that person be a woman!

Even though I don't get as much torch time as I used to, the flame will always be where it's at! I love creating marbles; they keep me on my toes striving for originality and perfection. I used to think pipes were tough, but boy was I in for a surprise when I moved into the marble field! However, I feel I have a strong foundation with a versatile background and many techniques up my sleeve. Now squeezing my ideas onto one ìsmallî sphere is the challenge!
