Artist's Bio

Tosha's glassworking oddessy began even before her birth. Her mother Susan Kearns, a very successful and accomplished glass artist in her own right, gave birth to Tosha in Butte, Montana while at a craft show there. Being raised in southern California by travelling glass artists gave Tosha a unique view of the world and glass art in general. Her parents were good friends of Harold and Dorothy Hacker and she frequently spent time at their house and their shop in her early childhood. Tosha's first experience at the torch came at the age of 8 and with her mother's guidance made her first object. The family moved to North Texas when she was in grade school and to Arizona when she was in highschool. Being a rebellious and expressive teen, she avoided the family business for awhile. But she threw herself in full force at the age of 19 after meeting her husband Jonathan and the birth of their first child. Their second child came the following year. For about 8 years she practiced her craft, learning new trick and techniques and inadverntantly developed her own unique style. Tosha and Jonathan left the families business and sterted their own studio, Crystal Eclipse, in 2005. Having worked primarily with clear borosilicate her entire life Tosha is exhillerated by the pallate of colors available today and enjoys making pendants and figurines and increasing her glassworking "vocabulary". Rather that transitioning from clear and stained production glass to colored art glass, she has chosen to do both - giving her a terrific balance between fullfilling her creative desires and living a comfortable existance. She sells her work retail, wholesale, clear and colored, online and in person. She looks foward to a happy, satisfying and successful career as a professional glass artist.
